Arthritis Sufferers Leaning On CBD

Anyone who suffers from arthritis knows what a challenge it can be to find a treatment plan that actually provides long-term, powerful relief.  As it turns out, CBD may have incredible potential to treat inflammation of the joints. In fact, more and more sufferers are taking CBD oil for arthritisthanks to several new medical studies illustrating how exciting this plant-based compound really is.

Before you rush out and pick up the first CBD product that you can find at CBDfx, we strongly suggest that you read this article thoroughly.  In order to use CBD oil for arthritis pain, it’s crucial that you know what kind of hemp product to get and how much to take.  As you’ll see, taking CBD for arthritis is a very common way that people across the country are choosing to help manage their condition.

What Exactly is Arthritis?

Before we explain how and why to take CBD for arthritis pain, it’s important to understand exactly what arthritis is.  To put it simply, arthritis is inflammation of at least one of the joints in the body.  The most common symptom of arthritis is chronic pain that ranges in severity. The other common symptom is stiffness, making it difficult for a person to move the affected area.  There are about 100 different forms of arthritis, each with its own unique set of symptoms and its own cause.

What are the Different Types of Arthritis?

While there are many different types of arthritis, two types are extremely common.  Rheumatoid arthritis is classified as an autoimmune disorder, meaning that the immune system mistakenly attacks its own bodily tissue, causing the joints to break down over time.

Each joint has a layer of tissue called the “synovium”.  This tissue produces a fluid that keeps our joints lubricated.  This lubrication is essential as it prevents the joint cartilage from breaking down prematurely.  For those who have rheumatoid arthritis, the immune system depletes the synovium, causing the joints’ bones and cartilage to break down.

The other most common type of arthritis is osteoarthritis.  Unlike rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis is the natural result of wear on the joints.  As we age, the protective cartilage in our joints begins to wear down, making the joints more vulnerable to injury. Eventually, this causes the joints to become damaged.  While osteoarthritis is typically associated with aging, it can also result from an injury or an infection of the surrounding tissue.

What Causes Arthritis?

Because there are so many different types of arthritis, the disease has many causes.  Those who have osteoarthritis may have contracted the disease as the result of age or injury.  As for rheumatoid arthritis, pinning down an exact cause is a much more complex process. Because rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease, there’s rarely any physical catalyst that contributed to the development of the condition.  However, some scientists believe that certain genetic markers make a person more vulnerable to developing the disease.

Many medical researchers believe that autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis can result from chronic stress.  Cortisol, the stress hormone, is secreted throughout the body when a person is under an unusual amount of stress. This can trigger a response from the immune system that results in widespread inflammation as the immune system wrongfully perceives the elevated cortisol levels as an attack on the body by a foreign invader.

However, it is widely believed that people can be genetically prone to developing arthritis based on their family history.

Who’s Most Likely to Develop Arthritis?

Statistics show that arthritis affects a far greater number of women than men, although the reason why that is isn’t presently known.  While arthritis is typically associated with the elderly, it can affect anyone at any age. In fact, children can develop arthritis.

With over three million Americans getting diagnosed with arthritis each year, it’s safe to say that this disease is very common.  Those who are at the highest risk of developing arthritis are those who have a poorly functioning immune system, those who have been injured, those who have had an infection of the joint tissue and those who live a lifestyle that puts an unusual amount of pressure on the joints.

Pain-Relieving Superpowers

CBD is naturally rich in anti-inflammatory properties, meaning that it may have the potential to lower inflammation levels whether taken internally or applied topically to the affected area.  CBD’s also high in analgesic activity, meaning that it may be able to restrict the nervous system from sending pain signals to the brain.

Profound Stress Relief

As we touched on earlier, stress releases cortisol into the bloodstream.  When an excessive amount of cortisol is secreted, the immune system reacts with an inflammatory response.  This can exacerbate arthritis symptoms.  CBD is a popular self-dosing stress relief aid, with widespread anecdotal reports that it calms the mind and slows down the nervous system.

Effective Sleep Aid

Another reason people have reported satisfaction with CBD is in regards to the sleep they’re getting.  If you’re dealing with severe arthritis, it may be difficult to get enough sleep each night as the pain interferes with your ability to relax.  For many people, CBD works as a safe, gentle and effective sleep aid each night.

Studies Relating to CBD’s Effects on Arthritis

Over the last few years several studies have shown incredible promise for CBD to treat arthritis symptoms. One such study was administered to people with rheumatoid arthritis.  This one concluded that CBD may be capable of relieving pain while lowering inflammation levels throughout the body.

CBD has been scientifically suggested to do more than relieve arthritis symptoms.  A study that was conducted in 2016 found that CBD reduced pain levels while improving sleep.  Meanwhile, another study found that CBD may be a highly effective way to manage general pain.

Why Take CBD Oil? CBD is a Natural Medicine Alternative

If you are someone that is looking to get away from using traditional medicine, you are likely considering using CBD oil as a natural alternative. Below, we will be going over some reasons why it is a viable alternative for those that are seeking natural ways to treat various medical issues.

To learn about the best brands of CBD oil and get the latest news, check out this blog here.

Reasons To Consider Using CBD Oil:

1. Ability To Relieve Pain.

One of the main reasons you might want to consider using this natural alternative is for pain management. For those that suffer from reoccurring pain, it can be very difficult to manage it. By using CBD oil to help better manage pain, you will be able to avoid using some of the harsh medicines that you would normally have to be using to deal with it. A lot of the pain medications that you would be considered in the traditional medicine space are highly addictive. Because of this, you might end up forcing yourself to be unable to live without it. However, by using a natural alternative like CBD oil, you will be able to get similar results without having to worry about getting addicted. Instead, you will be able to relieve yourself of the pain naturally without any addictive properties.

2. Combating Depression and Anxiety.

Another reason you might want to consider using CBD oil would be the ability to combat both anxiety and depression. If you are someone that is looking to better your anxiety symptoms, you are likely considering medicines to help do it. However, a lot of the anxiety and depression medications readily available have various side effects that you might not be willing to deal with. CBD oil has been shown to be effective at helping one cope with depression and to help alleviate symptoms of anxiety.

3. Little To No Side Effects.

Another major reason you are likely to consider using this has to do with there being little to no known side effects. It is capable of producing a lot of the same benefits of THC without causing any psychoactive sensations. This means that you will be able to benefit from a lot of the things that THC can offer without having the sensation of feeling or getting high. This alone makes it an ideal option for those that might be looking for a natural alternative that really has little to no side effects that you have to worry about.

4. Other Benefits.

Another reason you might be at least considering switching to CBD oil would be the fact that it can come with a host of other benefits that you will be able to take advantage of. In fact, there is preliminary research that shows that CBD oil can be effective at benefiting heart health. This is primarily because it can help to lower high blood pressure which can have the benefits of helping to reduce the risk factor associated with having high blood pressure including various health conditions related to the heart.

5. It’s Gaining Steam.

One thing that might be holding you back from using it is the fact that it was sort of sitting in a legal grey area. Because of this, you might be limiting yourself to wanting to use CBD oil for the fear of legal consequences. However, much like marijuana, a lot of states are opening up to the idea of CBD oil and it has even gained significant traction at the federal level. In fact, the President even signed a farm bill that removed industrial hemp from a list of federally controlled substances which really opened up the legal market for CBD oil.

Overall, CBD oil is quickly becoming a viable option for anyone that is suffering from various medical conditions. However, it has shown to be particularly effective for pain management.

As the Hemp-CBD Industry Booms, Here’s What Brands Need to Know About the Trend

Cannabidiol—CBD for short—products aren’t just the latest fad. There’s baked goods (at By Chloe), a trendy sparkling water brand (Recess) and a beauty brand (Milk Makeup), but it’s not just small marketers stepping into the space. Late last year, rumors surfaced that The Coca-Cola Company was getting into the hemp-CBD industry, which analysts at the Brightfield Group project will reach $22 billion by 2022. Coke is reportedly in talks with Canadian company Aurora Cannabis to create a CBD beverage, made without THC (the psychoactive ingredient that gets you high). Others are speculating that Starbucks could be the first fast-food chain to roll out CBD beverages. Another brand, Barneys, recently shared plans to open The High End, a luxury cannabis store, in its flagship space in Beverly Hills, Calif., in March.

5 Ways to Get Your Daily Dose of CBD

CBD (Cannabidiol) has been around for ages, yet in recent years this cannabinoid found in hemp, cannabis and other plants has attracted quite a bit of attention from the medical community and those seeking out all-natural alternative options for their health.

With this rise in popularity has come a wave of CBD products designed to suit virtually any need or use case, and there are now more ways than ever to get this cannabinoid’s healing properties into your system.

Because CBD is so versatile, manufacturers are taking consumer feedback to heart, releasing new and innovative ways to consume CBD and accompanying products that consumers can use and enjoy.

While options are nice, with products ranging from gummies, to capsules, and oils, it can be difficult and confusing to know which CBD product is the right one for your specific needs.

This brief guide will help you uncover some of the best (and most popular) ways, times and uses to get the most from your CBD. Read on to learn more!

CBD to Start Your Day
For most Americans, the day doesn’t begin until they’ve had that first cup of morning joe and consequential dose of caffeine. Now, that routine cup of coffee can be leveled up with the addition of CBD.

Yes, you heard that right. Coffee infused with 10 milligrams of CBD per serving comes in many varieties, including Columbian, Peruvian, dark roast, and others, helping jumpstart your day on the right foot. Why not switch up your regular cup of coffee with CBD infused coffee? Not only will your morning have its regular lift, but it will also have the added benefit of all that CBD has to offer. Balance is just a hot, steaming cup of coffee away.

If you’re not looking to walk around caffeinated all day, fear not! You can still get the same milligrams of CBD infused into decaffeinated coffee too. So now, you can stay warm and cozy during the day while reaping the benefits of CBD without any of the caffeine or overstimulation that comes along with it.

Mid-Day Work Jitters Have you on Edge? Calm your Anxiety…Discreetly
Current research has discovered that CBD is a promising new supplement when it comes to calming stress and other emotional issues associated with anxiety. In today’s world of meetings, deadlines, daily commutes, and high-volume workloads, anxiety for most people escalates during the typical Monday through Friday workday when most of these high-stress situations occur.

Taking a regular daily dose of CBD before and during your workday can help to keep the anxiety at bay while allowing you to successfully handle whatever stressors come your way.

But keeping a bottle of CBD oil at your desk, getting a dosage in, and then having to explain everything to your coworkers and boss may not make for the best situation. In this situation, CBD capsules or gummies may be the best products to take since the capsules anonymously blend in with other natural supplements on the market, and the gummies look like a typical vitamin or mid-afternoon snack.

Snack Time
If you’re midway through your day and craving a sweet treat, why not satisfy your sweet tooth with a CBD infused gummy treat? Each gummy or chewy treat has 10 milligrams of CBD infused in them, so now you can relax knowing that you will have a much-needed boost to finish out your workday in a stress-free way.

Not only will the CBD help you to relax in a non-sedating manner, it will also help you to feel ready to tackle any task that comes your way, no matter how big or small that task may be.

Post-Workout Gains – for the athlete in all of us
Regular exercise is a great way to diffuse stress and blow off some steam if your workday has been less than spectacular. The harder workout, the achier your muscles have the potential to be. And when that soreness piles on top of an already lingering migraine, your body can feel downright unbearable.

More and more amateur athletes, gym goers, and weekend warriors are turning to CBD’s natural anti-inflammatory properties to take away their aches and pains. CBD infused cream is a great addition to your post-workout routine as it is a wonderful aid in the recovery process. Most CBD creams are infused with a combination of CBD and menthol to help alleviate joint and muscle pain and discomfort. These topical, non-greasy creams come in an easy-to-use, no-mess pump bottle containing 150 milligrams and 300 milligrams of CBD, so you can decide the best dose to apply for all of your aches both big and small.

Sleep Tight with a Little Nighty-Night Assistance
If you have trouble sleeping at night, can’t fall asleep, or wake up frequently, then CBD oil will make a great addition to your nighttime routine. The simple ingestion of CBD oil can have you resting easy and feeling at ease. Now, a good night’s sleep may only be a few drops away.

CBD oil can either be taken under the tongue (sublingually) or in your favorite (non-alcoholic) drink right before bed at the end of your day. And since the oil comes with an easy-to-use dropper, dispensing the proper dose is simple and guess-free. CBD oils come in a variety of doses ranging from 7 milligrams to 58 milligrams per dose, so you can easily increase or decrease your nightly dose depending on your needs.

Closing Thoughts
As new research continues to report on the potential health benefits of CBD use, individuals like yourself are flocking in droves to try out this holistic, all-natural alternative to harsh chemicals and pharmaceutical drugs.

Finding new and effective ways to incorporate CBD into your lifestyle may dramatically improve the quality of your day to day well-being. But as with any supplement, every individual reacts differently, so you may need to experiment a bit in order to get the most benefits out of your regimen.

Whether it’s adding a boost to your day, getting a better night’s sleep, calming anxiety, or eliminating body aches and pains, CBD might be the answer you’ve been looking for.

Alabama is working to advance industrial hemp production across the state!

What is the Industrial Hemp Program?

On December 12, Congress passed the 2018 Agriculture and Nutrition Act, better known as the Farm Bill. The important legislation amends the classification of hemp as a Schedule I narcotic. This legislation defines hemp as all parts of the plant less than 0.3% THC, including derivatives, extracts, and cannabinoids. Hemp is now deemed an agricultural commodity and is no longer classified as a controlled substance. It is important for the public to understand that hemp is not legal to grow or process in Alabama until a plan is developed and approved by the United States Secretary of Agriculture. USDA will require participating states to include information on applicants, testing procedures, inspection of growing/processing facilities and disposal procedures. The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (ADAI) will work in consultation with the Governor’s office, the Attorney General’s office and law enforcement agencies to create a plan of action regarding statewide regulation. Upon approval from USDA, ADAI will administer permits for growing and processing. “I am happy that hemp production was addressed at the federal level,” said Commissioner John McMillan. “In 2016 we were tasked with administering the Alabama Industrial Hemp Research Program Act by the state legislature. The process has been complicated, but with the Farm Bill amendment we can move forward with a more unified plan.” The previously approved Alabama Industrial Hemp Research Program Act rules will be reviewed and amended to comply with the requirements of the new Federal legislation.

USDA AMS has released the following statement regarding the USDA Hemp Production Program:

  • State or Indian tribal nations do not need to submit plans for approval until regulations are in place; however, should a state submit a plan, USDA will hold that submission until regulations have been promulgated.
  • USDA is also required to establish a plan to monitor and regulate the production of hemp in those States or Indian tribes that do not have an approved State or Tribal plan. It is USDA’s intention to issue regulations in the Fall of 2019 to accommodate the 2020 planting season.
  • For the 2019 planting season, the 2018 Farm Bill provides that States, Tribes, and institutions of higher education can continue operating under authorities of the 2014 Farm Bill.
  • A Farm Bill listening session on industrial hemp production will occur on March 13, 2019.

Hemp farming bill passes Georgia House

The Georgia House overwhelmingly approved a bill Wednesday allowing farmers to grow hemp for CBD oils and other products.

The 163-3 vote calls for Georgia to join the 41 other states that already permit hemp cultivation, said state Rep. John Corbett, a Republican from Lake Park.

“As a farmer, this is a great bill,” said state Rep. Robert Dickey, a peach grower and Republican from Musella, west of Macon. “This is another tool in the belt of farmers that we can diversify.”

Hemp could be processed into CBD droplets, capsules and creams that are already widely available in nutrition stores but imported to Georgia from other states.

Cannabidiol — also called CBD — is legal in the United States if it contains less than 0.3 percent THC, the main psychoactive component of the cannabis plant.

With that low amount of THC, hemp products couldn’t be abused, Corbett said.

“You could smoke a truckload of it and it’s not going to do anything for you,” he said in a Rules Committee hearing Tuesday.

The legislation, House Bill 213, now advances to the state Senate.

A separate measure pending in the state House, House Bill 324, would allow cultivation and sales of medical marijuana oil, which contains up to 5 percent THC and can be used by registered patients.

The Benefits of CBD For Muscle Repair

The Benefits of CBD For Muscle Repair

Whether you are an athlete, a regular gym-goer or a martial arts practitioner, persistent training is needed to build strong muscles and boost endurance. Certain routines are performed regularly to improve stamina, strengthen the muscles and improve concentration. However, one important aspect is needed to ensure that muscles are in good condition and that is recovery.

Every athlete and sports enthusiast knows the importance of recovery to prevent injury and DOMS or Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. DOMS can be intense and can last for a few days or even weeks if muscles are completely overworked.

To ease these sore muscles, ice baths, straight-up rest and compression taping are needed. Although these techniques have been used by athletes for a long time, there is a much better alternative:  CBD.

Understanding Why Your Muscles Are Sore

Exerting effort in the gym and intense physical training can damage muscles, leading to DOMS. The soreness comes from the micro tears in the muscles caused by heavy weights, pressure and the number of repetitions directed at a targeted area. The body then adapts by increasing the size and strength of the muscle over time. Although the body heals itself, the inflammation of the muscles can be detrimental to any training regime and the pain can affect an individual’s physical movements and activities.

Conventional Muscle Recovery Techniques

To counter the soreness of the muscles, most athletes engage in several conventional recovery techniques. Aside from ice baths, massages are common as well as regular visits to a physical therapy center. Licensed therapists perform treatments and mobilization to regain the strength and mobility of the muscles to improve the athlete’s overall performance.

These frequent visits to a physical therapy center aren’t cheap, so what most people do is simply rest, engage in warm-ups once in a while and let their bodies heal naturally. This takes time, depending on the intensity of the muscle damage.

The Rise of CBD as a Muscle Recovery Agent

As of January 2018, the World Anti-Doping Agency or WADA announced that cannabidiol (CBD) is no longer considered a banned substance. This means that athletes can freely use CBD products to ease pain and inflammation of the muscles.

WADA maintains a list of approved and banned substances for a variety of sports organizations around the world. With WADA’s announcement that CBD is a non-toxic and non-addictive substance, athletes rejoice for a better muscle-healing alternative.

To shed some light on the benefits that come with CBD, it’s important to know that this compound found in marijuana is not responsible for the ‘high’ feeling or psychoactive effect of the plant. In fact, the marijuana plant has another active compound called Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, which causes this ‘high’ feeling associated with marijuana.

With much research and many studies conducted by experts, CBD has been found to possess a myriad of therapeutic benefits, and it helps combat inflammation, and muscle and joint pain. It is a harmless compound that helps athletes recover faster from DOMS, fatigue and other minor injuries.

Other benefits of CBD include:

  • Relieves anxiety and depression
  • Stress reliever
  • Anti-seizure properties
  • Promotes better sleep
  • Natural pain and symptoms relief
  • Anti-tumor effects
  • Lowers Risk of Diabetes and Heart Disease

Breakdown of CBD Benefits for Athletic Recovery

Athletes can fully recover with the use of cannabidiol. Here’s a breakdown of the role CBD can play for athletic recovery:

  • Reduction of Muscle Spasm- There are a lot of reasons why spasms occur, but the most common are trauma, damaged nerves and spinal cord, straining of muscles and dehydration. CBD has antispasmodic properties which relieve and reduce muscle spasms.
  • Pain relief- Cannabis is an analgesic, which helps alleviate pain for pre and post workout or exercise. Athletes can use CBD products to manage pain and injuries.
  • Better sleep and relaxation- Sleep is integral to the recovery of muscles and cell repair. CBD is known to regulate the sleep cycle which, in turn, promotes overall wellness through quality rest, minus the drowsiness.
  • Relieves nausea- The intensity of workouts of athletes can sometimes cause nausea due to the blood flow being drawn away from the stomach. CBD is known to have anti-emetic properties, which reduces nausea before and after exercise.
  • Increase of appetite- Taking in a high number of calories is essential for energy and overall performance. With the consumption of CBD, appetite is stimulated in a healthy way.
  • Anti-Inflammatory- Swelling of the body parts, especially the arms and legs, caused by injuries, can be detrimental to the performance of an athlete. CBD can help relieve inflammation and manage pain for faster recovery.

CBD Products to Use

The most common cannabidiol product on the market today is CBD Hemp Oil. It is made by extracting the oil from the whole plant to separate CBD from THC. This oil can be rubbed directly onto the body or consumed. It is perfectly safe and can give immediate relief to chronic pain experienced by athletes.

Some manufacturers are becoming creative with CBD. There are edibles being sold, with different flavors and added ingredients, skin and topical products plus supplements. Taken in moderation, CBD is seen to stimulate the body and support metabolic function.

Vaping CBD Oil is another method to encourage peak performance, combat joint and muscle pain, relieve stress, sleep apnea and inflammation. Inhaling the substance is easy on the lungs and produces a vapor that’s cooler and non-toxic. In short, it won’t affect the function and capacity of the lungs. This method is preferred as CBD is delivered to the system quickly.

The Future of CBD in Sports

Cannabidiol is seen to be progressive, with countless research and studies being conducted by experts. It will continue to be a great alternative for athletes suffering from different conditions. With its proven benefits, more and more individuals can experience faster relief from common symptoms like muscle spasms, headaches, pain and more.

Enhance athletic performance with the use of CBD products! It’s safe, non-toxic and easy on the body systems, promoting overall health and wellness.

CBD Buzz Explained: Why Many are All About It

CBD Buzz Explained: Why Many are All About It

As of today, medical cannabis is legal in 33 states and cannabidiol is permitted for use in all but three states. Market studies show that people are loving this compound, but why exactly do they adore it? Here’s why:

Status of the CBD Buzz

In the past years, cannabidiol has been gaining immense popularity. A survey by the Brightfield Group involving 2,400 participants revealed that 57% of the respondents decided to include CBD in their medical treatments. On the other hand, 42% replaced medications with this cannabinoid.

This surge in the use of cannabidiol is consistent with sales data. In fact, the U.S. saw a $108.1 million consumer sales in 2014, which increased throughout the following years. In 2018, the sales amounted to $512.7 million and by 2022 the sales are projected to reach a staggering value of $1.812 billion.

One reason for this increase in usage and sales is the legalization of medical marijuana, which paved the way for many people to realize the vast possibilities that this cannabinoid has to offer. Aside from this, the role of this cannabinoid in creating a more active and healthier lifestyle seems to be a huge factor in the growth of the cannabidiol market.

4 Reasons Why It is Highly Popular

These numbers show that this compound is not only becoming an accepted medical treatment of choice for chronic diseases and debilitating conditions but also as a way to enhance people’s lifestyle. If you are not sure what people particularly like about cannabidiol, here are 4 reasons why it is popular:

It Offers a World of Benefits

The fact that cannabis was legalized in the majority of the states shows that its cannabinoids are highly valuable, especially in light of the benefits it can give. These benefits include:

  • Mood and Energy Boost – A lot of people take a dose of cannabidiol every morning and in the middle of the day. This cannabinoid is known to give consumers more energy. It is also a great way to relieve some stress as it can lower stress levels and improve your mood. In fact, many people add it to their anxiety and depression treatments. Some prefer drinking coffee to get the energy they need to get through the day, you can try to ingest CBD to give yourself a little pick-me-up. Or, if you love coffee, you can mix cannabidiol oil to your cup of joe.
  • Inspiring Creativity – Aside from giving you energy and lowering your stress level, CBD can also help you become more creative. Cannabidiol attaches to the receptors in your brain, which improves blood flow. This results in an enhanced mood, cognition, and creative thinking.
  • Pain Relief – Cannabis can be prescribed to people suffering from chronic pain. The reason for its effectiveness in treating pain? You guess it, it is CBD. This cannabinoid is known to minimize pain levels, making it perfect for people suffering from arthritis and rheumatism.
  • Anti-Inflammation – Pain relief and anti-inflammation go hand-in-hand, especially as chronic pain is often caused by inflammation. It’s a good thing that cannabidiol is also found to be effective in preventing and treating inflammation, making it all the more perfect for treating painful conditions.

It is Non-Psychoactive

Perhaps the reason why people are more comfortable using CBD, whether regularly or occasionally, is because it is non-psychoactive. Keep in mind that much of the stigma surrounding cannabis is because of its psychoactive effect, which is largely caused by THC. Because CBD products are properly marketed as cannabis-infused items without the “highness”, more people are more amenable to try them. So, if you are looking for ways to consume cannabis without getting high, then this compound is your best bet.

It Can Be Consumed in Many Ways

If you are wondering how to consume this compound, you will be glad to know that there are many ways you can do so. Here are just some of the best ways:

  • Vaping – Vaping is all the rage in the past few years, especially as it is a feasible alternative to smoking. Similarly, you can try vaping CBD juices instead of smoking marijuana. This method is perfect for those wanting to get their cannabidiol fix whilst also blending in with regular vapers.
  • Capsules and Pills – These tiny tablets resemble traditional medications a lot, making it inconspicuous when you take it in public. It may be a boring way to take the compound but an upside to it is you can easily take measured doses, which makes it easier to monitor your consumption.
  • Skin and Body Care Products – The best thing about this compound is that you can use it not only for your health but also for taking care of your skin and body. CBD is known to treat acne, psoriasis and other skin conditions. Some body skin care products you can use include balms, ointments, soaps, and shampoos.
  • Oils and Tinctures – If you want a product which allows flexibility, oils and tinctures are for you. You can use your tinctures for a much efficient effect, especially when you consume it sublingually. You can also mix your oil to your food and drinks, giving you a wide variety of choices to mix it with.
  • Edibles and Drinkables – Because CBD in oil form is very versatile, many companies produce edible and drinkable products infused with this compound. You can get gummies, which offer a discreet and fun way to ingest cannabidiol. If you have a sweet tooth, baked goods such as cookies and brownies are your best bet. To top it all off, you can wash it down with a generous help of CBD milk or coffee.
  • It is Easier to Get Nowadays – With the legalization of medical cannabis and the acceptable of CBD in many states, you can easily get your CBD and CBD-infused products easily. If you live in a state where medical or even recreational marijuana is legal, you will have no problem getting cannabidiol-based products.

With more and more cannabidiol-infused products emerging in the market, there is no doubt that it will become more popular in the future. Interested in trying these items? Make sure that you get them from a licensed and reputable dispensary and you are good to go!

Taking Daily CBD: Effects on Brain Health, Function and Performance

Medical marijuana is firmly in the media spotlight, and more and more doctors and patients are attracted to the healing powers of the plant, especially cannabidiol (CBD). CBD is one of more than a hundred compounds extracted from marijuana and its cousin, industrial hemp. Many researchers from different parts of the world have proven the potency of this substance in treating various kinds of diseases, especially on the brain and the nervous system.

Numerous studies have shown that CBD provides a wide range of benefits to the brain’s health, function, and performance. Aside from protecting the brain from degeneration and advanced aging, CBD also has properties that can prevent the growth of brain tumors. Moreover, it can reduce stress and mood issues that are harmful to mental function, and contribute to lowering the incidence of epileptic seizures. Furthermore, CBD also acts as a natural analgesic that suppresses chronic pain and swelling and can aid better sleep quality.

How CBD Affects the Brain

  • Protects and Rejuvenates Nerves

The discovery of cannabis’ power to prevent brain degeneration is perhaps one of the most important breakthroughs in modern medicine. At a time when Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurological diseases affect millions of people, the discovery of cannabis as an effective medicine is a watershed moment in brain research and treatment. This substance is one of the few that has the power to reduce brain damage caused by many factors. It protects the brain from stress caused by traumatic blows, lack of oxygen supply, as well as autoimmune and genetic disorders.

Aside from protecting the nerves, CBD also promotes the growth of new neurons. Neuroscientists have observed this phenomenon, also known as neurogenesis, not only in the brains of children but also of adults and seniors. Neurogenesis takes place during healthy activities like physical exercise, and it can also occur when taking anti-depressant medications. Since physical activity is nearly impossible for patients who suffer trauma and aging, anti-depressants are the only possible option. However, frequent and continued use of this medication can cause side-effects. With the discovery of CBD’s neurogenesis property in the mid-90s, doctors now have a natural and safer alternative that can reduce, and possibly even treat, neurological diseases. The good thing about CBD is that it has no toxic effect on the body, even in very high doses.

  • Reduces Seizures

While CBD is often linked to a wide range of health problems, its efficacy in treating some of the most severe epilepsy syndromes, like Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, is recognized and acknowledged by the scientific community. These types of epilepsy usually do not respond to medication but, in many studies, CBD has been proven to reduce the number of seizures and, in a few cases, were even able to stop them. Videos showing the effects of CBD on afflicted children and their seizures are available for viewing on the Internet. The positive impact of CBD has prompted the FDA to approve the first cannabis-derived medicine for these types of epilepsy.

  • Relieves Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety and depression are two of the most common mental health problems that affect a considerable portion of the American population. People are spending millions of dollars on medications to relieve the symptoms and effects of these disorders. While in the past, hormonal and chemical imbalances are said to have caused these disorders, scientists have now found a new source — structural problems in the brain.

Modern brain-scanning machines, such as fMRI, have found that people with chronic anxiety and depression have a smaller hippocampus, the part of the brain linked to long-term memory, spatial navigation and spatial memory, and behavioral inhibition. Because of CBD’s ability to regenerate neurons in this area, the behavior and moods of the anxious and depressed can be modified. With a larger hippocampus, they can now better manage their behavior in the face of stress and other emotional trauma.

  • Relieves Chronic Pain

Since ancient times, cannabis has been used to suppress chronic and acute pain. There are even ancient Chinese texts documenting the use of marijuana during surgery. Millennia later and researchers have found that weed, specifically CBD, can relieve chronic pain originating from the nerves, and associated with conditions such as multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, neurofibromatosis, and even cancer, and since CBD has anti-inflammatory properties too, it can also reduce the frequency and intensity of pain in different areas of the body.

  • Improves Sleep

Regular quality sleep is crucial for a healthy brain. A sleep-deprived person may often experience mental lapses including memory loss, lack of focus and fatigue. CBD relieves anxiety and chronic pain closely associated with insomnia and other sleep disorders. Once a person experiences relief from an anxious and agitated state, aided by a dose of CBD, sleep will come naturally.

  • Has an Antioxidant Property

CBD is also a potent antioxidant. This natural substance hinders oxidation, a chemical reaction that generates free radicals. Once free radicals multiply, they may lead to the development of any number of chronic diseases including cancer, stroke and neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. The National Cancer Institute acknowledges the beneficial role of antioxidants in preventing the damage caused by free radicals to the body, especially in the growth and development of tumors that can lead to cancer in the brain and other parts of the body.

CBD, together with THC, another substance extracted from cannabis, is a potent antioxidant, more so than vitamins C and E. In fact, the US Government grants a patent to CBD specifically for its neuroprotectant and antioxidant properties. Even the World Health Organization recognizes CBD as a potential treatment for cancer and other diseases caused by free radicals.

Future Breakthroughs in Cannabidiol Research

Research on CBD, and other compounds derived from weed, is only in its infancy. As medical science begins to focus on the astonishing healing powers of marijuana, we can expect more scientific breakthroughs to be made, especially in the treatment of brain diseases and improvement to mental function. Now that doctors and patients are living witnesses to the wonders brought about by using cannabis for medicinal purposes, we can look forward to a better society where people experience less anxiety, pain, and disease.
